Digitalization for Brazilian business in Neuss

Sucos do Brasil – Bringing Brazilian Lifestyle to Germany

Sucos do Brasil stands for Brazilian lifestyle, and that’s exactly what the Neuss-based trading company represents. For more than 20 years, both commercial and private customers have been able to bring a piece of Sugarloaf Mountain to Germany through their own online shops (B2B: sucos.com / B2C: brasil-latino.de). Hundreds of food items, spirits, non-food, and gift items from Brazil and other South and Central American countries are available from the Neuss warehouse. From here, Sucos distributes the goods via freight forwarders to large buyers, the food trade, and by courier to private customers.

The business of owner Christian Wurm grew successfully – but the IT could no longer keep up with the pace and development of the retailer.

In 2015, we received the request to digitize and integrate label creation. This was no trivial task, as very different product groups from very different sources had to be recorded and the data digitized. Special challenges included the Food Information Regulation for food from outside the EU and customs: Sucos has its own spirits tax warehouse in Neuss for alcoholic beverages.

With intensive customer consultation, deep knowledge of the business and logistical processes of a trading house, and our structured project management, we succeeded in bringing label creation at Sucos up to the latest state of the art. All processes – from goods receipt to handover to suppliers, from freight forwarders to digital processing – are highly efficiently coordinated. For this, we installed, among other things, a scanner solution for the warehouses of Sucos GmbH.

A happy ending for our customer – but far from the end of the story.

Eliminating Wild Growth, Implementing Future Security

After we digitized and integrated the labeling of the Neuss-based retailer, the customer experienced over five years how stable our solution worked. And how flexibly it adapted to changing business processes and new product groups.

These experiences sparked the desire in Sucos to have Avantgarde review other business processes in terms of IT. We analyzed the entire complex of software solutions from various manufacturers and conducted an inventory workshop with the customer. The existing Sage 100 solution and the connected partner solutions needed an update, and the batch and inventory management as well as the billing needed IT optimization. Over the years and decades, a “wild growth” of software modules of different origins and quality had developed. The understandable customer wish: to set everything up cleanly and anew, so that today’s and future requirements of a modern trading company can be digitally mapped.

Based on our experiences over the past three decades with medium-sized customers, including international trading houses, we know the relevant business processes well – and especially the pitfalls and challenges.

We have particular strengths in inventory management. A large and fascinating project that we were able to implement for Sucos. How we proceeded can be read in the next part.

Quality Made by Avantgarde for Sucos

When it comes to digitizing business processes, it’s about much more than just installing software packages. This was also the case with our work for Sucos. It involves consulting, analysis, workshops, conceptualization, solution development, programming, implementation, training, and service. We follow these and other steps with structured project management, certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001. This allows us to achieve the project goals precisely: in agreed quality, agreed time, and within the agreed budget.

We also used our phase model for Sucos. It ensures high transparency of the individual project phases and closely involves the customer in the realization. Project management is largely standardized. In the project management manual, tasks and assignments are clearly and unambiguously described so that all participants can use the methods and tools in the same way. This structured approach increases motivation and promotes identification among all participants. In plain language: the work is fun for everyone – including the customer – and ensures a successful project.

We implemented all planned software solutions for Sucos in a test system first and ran through all processes with the employees. After approval by Sucos, the big day came with the go-live, including training for all employees.

We documented every project step, so we can now efficiently support Sucos with service and support.

Stable, Efficient, Transparent, and Updatable

This summarizes how our customer Sucos experiences their IT solutions around their trading business.

We have seamlessly implemented several updates for Sucos over the past few years. All integrated business processes run smoothly. However, as Sucos continues to grow and evolve – fortunately – there are always new requests and special requirements for the software that we are happy to implement.

Sucos and we now feel the benefits of long-term collaboration: a trust relationship has developed, an initial investment has been made – now both sides benefit from each other. We know all the processes very well and can provide quick and targeted support if there is ever a “hiccup.”

Today, around 40 employees at Sucos work with the system. Over 20 scanners are used in a two-shift system in the warehouses.

Estamos ansiosos para os próximos projetos! (We look forward to the next tasks!)
